Beach Gel Nails Inspired - Flamingos and Palmtrees

I've been playing around with gel nails for a few months now and here's my very first gel nails post!!!

On my thumb and middle finger, I've painted a glitter gel polish. 

On my index and pinky, I've painted an inspired palmtree design with nude gel polish and green and brown gel polish for the trees. 

On my ring finger, I've painted miniature flamingos and some grass patches with white gel polish as background. 

I've been updating more often on my blog on beauty, lifestyle and food.

Sky

Hi guys! How is July treating you so far? Its gonna be August real soon!

This nail art is really easy to do and its very cute. I really love it. When i put my hands up against the sky, and move them, i feel like i'm seeing real clouds move. Aren't they adorable?

I used Faceshop blue and white nail polish!
I didn't use any equipment to do the nail art, i just used the brush to dab it slowly to make it into clouds. You can try to dap it in a up down motion.

Tree branch and glitter

Hi guys, I'm back after the long hiatus!

Here are my new tree branch and glitter inspired nail art.

It was supposed to be zebra patterns, but I guess after painting it for a bit, it turned out to look pretty more like tree branches. So I added glitter aftermath. 

Polishes used:

Elianto Coral Light, China Glaze Grape Pop, Klean color Starry Purple and Fuschia Glitter.

Don't they look delightful? :)

Hey guys Merry Belated Christmas.

This was my Christmas Nails weeks ago. Really sorry i've been too busy having too much stuff catching up on me that I have barely enough time for myself.

This design was inspired from Justin Bieber's Mistletoe Video!
It just struck me that I wanted to do something like that...

So on the thumb its a mistletoe.
Index finger is a candy cane
Middle finger is a christmas tree!! Which i really love !!
Ring finger is Santa of course.
And lastly i couldn't think what to put on my tiny finger so i left it blank...

Comparison Greens

Today i'm doing a comparison of the above polishes.

Actually Essie's and Faceshop's colour is very similar in real but the price varies around SGD$5-6.

But i love all the different tones of greens.

Pokeball Nail

Today i did this Pokeball inspired nail. Inspired from the renowned POKEMON.
I really loved the color combination. I'm planning to do a nail art on all the diferent types of Pokeballs
Like Masterball, Ultraball, etc.

Meanwhile, for this nail I used Faceshop's white,red and black and DearFace's silver color for the centre of the Pokeball. I used to be a Pokemon fan in the past.

What's Pokemon's most frequently used phrase:

Nail tip of the Day #20 : How to remove cuticles correctly?

I guess most of us do not know what is a cuticle

So this is a close picture of a cuticle.

So here is the correct way to remove them
1. Wash them with warm water and soap and dry them well.
2. Apply cuticle softener/remover.
3. Use orange stick to push back the cuticle and ensure they are soft enough
4. Use a cuticle cutter to cut your cuticles very carefully. DO NOT over cut.
5. Apply moisterizer.

P.S. for the pushing back of the cuticles, try to use orange stick instead of metal sticks cause it is actually better :)

Captain America

On my previous nail art post, i did a nail art on the US flag over here.
Today i'll be showing you a Captain America's Inspired nail art!

My main theme of the nails were Captain America, an idea my friend gave me.
I really loved the shield and so i decided that it would be a nail art about the shield and US flag.
Since the colours match each other.

I used the same colours i used for the US' Flag in the previous post here.
For the index and middle finger i just did a little bullseye kinda design on the nail with the shield's design.
For the ring finger i painted Dating a Royal by opi and added stars on it.
The babyfinger was more of the middle of the shield :)
And the thumb was the design from the previous post.

Nail tip of the Day #19 : How to prevent nails from being broken?

Many people tell me and think that its really difficult to keep long nails. But actually it is not.
Its just that we take our nails for granted.

Many of us use our nails as pliers to open objects like metal or even fight against other stronger objects, definitely your nails will break. We also drown them in water, dishwater and harsh chemicals. These are one of the few main reasons that cause nails to break easily. Everything that changes from a dry climate to a constant immersion of hot water can cause nails to peel, split and crak.

So, a few preventions are
1. Wear rubber gloves when washing dishes
2. Don't let solvents like paint thinner and overn cleaner have contact with your nails
3. Avoid long tub baths. Water will weaken the nails
4. Apply lanolin or jojoba lotions to the nails before and after exposure to water
5. Do not use ur nails to pry or push any more than necessary
6. Rounded nails are said to be more difficult to 'break' than other shapes. Check post here.
7. Use nail polish remover not more than once a week
8. Avoid nail polish removers with acetone and remove nail polish at most once a week.
9. Use a glass file or an emery board instead of a metal nail file.

However, there are some people who have health problems thus resulting in the brittle nails.
So, the basis of hair and nail structure depends on this thing called 'silica'. A lack of silica will cause hair to be weak and dull and nails to be brittle and thin. You can go to a doctor to check out or speak to a staff about your problem.

Also, keep a healthy diet as poor diet leads to vitamin deficiency that also includes a lack of 'silica'.
Do take lots of greens ;)
